How Long Does it Take to Write Blogs
**By the end of writing this blog, I will insert here (2hrs 15mins) how long it took me to write this post**
When I first started blogging, I had a ton of motivation and was really excited to write regarding things that I cared about. I set a limit to write 2 blog posts a day. By the end of the second week, I slowed down a bit because first I was running out of topics to write about, and second the excitement was beginning to fade slowly. I realized that I will continue to have difficulties to find topics and that blogging takes more time than I initially thought. Despite knowing that, it didn’t prevent me from continuing to write because one of the main reasons why I wanted to start blogging is that I love sharing my thoughts and experiences with people. It’s the driving force that keep me going with this!
These are the steps that I go through when I want to write:
Finding a Topic to Write About
Uploading/Looking up Photos for it
Researching to Include More Info
Writing & Revising
SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
More about SEOs: Every website, main navigations or folders for the site, and blog posts have separate SEO for us to edit so that it becomes easier for viewers to see our websites and blogs on search engines like Google and Bing.
I will use this post as an example
I woke up at 4am to write at least 1 blog today. I didn’t have a particular topic or category to write about and so I went to my favorite friend to do some digging. My friend is Google :)
I simply searched for blog post ideas and went through a few lists until I came upon one to write about how long it takes to write a blog and I thought it was interesting. I even made ‘Blogging’ a site category to try to help out those that are starting out, too!
This process took about 20 minutes ONLY because I had to create a site folder and navigation (the menu under the site title). Otherwise it usually takes 0-10 minutes to find a topic that I like writing about.
For every blog post I write, I want at least 1 photo either on the page of the post or the thumbnail/SEO. The thumbnail photo is where when you click on a site menu, you’ll see multiple blogs and each of them have their own title, more info, and a photo. SEO photo is where search engines list your post in their Photo section (or they use your logo if you don’t upload any).
I have been using Envato Elements for 2 years now and it is the most helpful tool for bloggers and everyone out there that wants templates, stock photos/videos, music and sound effects, etc..
In this post, I downloaded 2 photos from Envato and it took me about 10 minutes to search and upload to SEO and blog thumbnail. I also took a screen shot of Envato and looked up cat photos for you to see the examples that they have :D You can also head over to elements.envato.com to see everything that they offer!
I didn’t do much research for this post aside from trying to figure out how to continue the numbered list because uploading the above ^^ screenshot messed it up and so I switched it bulleted list. That’s an additional 5 minute of nonexistent solution on here. Each post that I write I learn new things and look up things a lot and sometimes they can be time consuming.
Writing the post, revising, and publishing it took a little over 2 hours
Finally, editing the title of the post, info, and uploading a photo to SEO took me 4 minutes.
As you can see, it takes time to write 1 blog but you WILL attract visitors. Keep writing and don’t even look at your website analytics (Sometimes I do just to make sure that my posts are visible to public).
The more posts you have, the more viewers you will have. Having social media accounts, personal or professional, associated with your blog help bring more people in, too!
