Best Fall Photoshoot Outfits for Couples
Warm autumn days spent outdoors in the crisp fall air are a wonderful memory to
capture with your loved one. Leaves are turning orange; the weather is ideal for long
walks and lazy mornings on the couch beneath the trees. What should you wear for your
fall photoshoot? Here are some of our favorite outdoor looks! We hope you enjoy these
ideas and have as much fun taking pictures as we did putting this post together! :)
Here are some of our favorite fall photoshoot outfits for couples:
Flannel Shirts and Khakis
Fall will always be “flannel weather”. There’s something about the crisp air that makes
us want to cozy up in a big, soft flannel shirt. This is a great option for both men and
women and can be easily dressed up or down depending on the occasion. For a casual
outdoor photoshoot, have your guy wear a flannel shirt with a pair of dark wash jeans
or chinos. Roll the sleeves up to his elbows and leave the shirt untucked for a relaxed
look. As for you, wear a flannel around your waist over a cute sundress or denim skirt
Add some booties or cowboy boots to complete the outfit!
If you want a slightly more formal look, have your guy wear a flannel shirt with khaki
pants or chinos. You can use a simple patterned shirt in place of the tie. Shirts should be
worn untucked and with rolled sleeves to add a laid-back air to an ensemble. For ladies,
try a plaid button-down dress with skinny jeans and heels. You could also wear flannel
as a scarf around your neck for added warmth (and style)!
Jeans, T-Shirts, and Hoodies
This is probably the most comfortable option for a fall outdoor photoshoot. You can’t go
wrong with a classic pair of jeans and a tee! This is a great look for guys and gals alike. If
you want to dress it up a bit, have your guy wear a fitted tee with dark wash jeans and
sneakers. For ladies, try a comfy oversized tee or tank with light-wash jeans and your
favorite sneakers. You can also add a denim jacket or hoodie to this look for an extra
layer of warmth.
If you want to go super casual, have your guy wear joggers or sweats with a fitted tee.
For ladies, try leggings or yoga pants with an oversized tee or tank. You can also add a
bomber jacket or hoodie to this look.
Sweaters and Scarves
As the weather cools down, sweaters become a staple in our fall wardrobe. There are so
many different styles of sweaters to choose from, so you’re sure to find one that is
perfect for your fall photoshoot! For guys, we love a classic crew neck sweater or a
cardigan style. And for girls, off-the-shoulder or turtleneck sweaters are always a good
choice.
Remember to bring a scarf if you’re planning on doing an outdoor fall photoshoot!
Scarves are not only fashionable, but they’ll also keep you warm between takes. We love
the look of a scarf worn around the neck or draped over the shoulders. If you’re feeling
creative, you could also try wearing your scarf as a headband or belt!
BONUS TIP: If you’re planning on doing a lot of walking during your photoshoot,
make sure to wear comfortable shoes. We love the look of boots or sneakers with jeans
or leggings. And don’t forget to bring a jacket just in case it gets chilly!
Athletic Wear
Trending now are “athleisure” looks, which are perfect for a fall outdoor photoshoot!
This style is all about comfort and being able to move around easily. And the best part is,
it doesn’t look too casual or overly sporty. For guys, we suggest wearing joggers or
basketball shorts with a fitted tee or tank. You can also add a light bomber jacket or
hoodie to complete the look. For girls, leggings or track pants with a crop top or sports
bra and a light jacket if the weather is a little cold is always a winner. And don’t forget your sneakers!
Layering Pieces
One of the best things about fall is that you can finally start layering your clothes again!
This is the perfect opportunity to break out all of those cute tops and sweaters you’ve
been dying to wear. To make sure you stay warm, though, make sure to layer your
clothing. This will also give you the chance to play with different colors and textures.
For fall photo shoots, layers also add a bit of interest and can really make your outfits
pop.
Here are some ideas for fall layering pieces:
Tops: long sleeve shirts, sweaters, button-downs, tunics
Bottoms: jeans, leggings, skirts, shorts
Outerwear: jackets, coats, scarves, hats
Autumnal Colors
Fall is all about earth tones and jewel tones. This is the perfect time of year to break out
those deep reds, oranges, and yellows. You can also go for more muted colors like olive
green, burgundy, and brown. No matter what colors you choose, make sure they
complement each other well. You don’t want to clash! If you’re not sure what colors go
well together, you can always consult a color wheel? For a fall-themed photoshoot, you
can’t go wrong with any colors that are found in nature.
For a guy, a button-down flannel in plaid or solid color is always a good choice. You can
wear it over a tee shirt or by itself. If you want to get a little fancier, you can also don a
sweater or cardigan. For pants, jeans or khakis are always safe bets. Chinos would also
work well. As for shoes, boots are always a good choice. If it’s not too cold out, you can
also get away with wearing sneakers.
For a girl, a flowy dress in a fall-appropriate color is always a good choice. You can also
wear jeans or leggings with a cute top or tunic. If it’s chilly out, you can always throw on
a cardigan or jacket. As for shoes, boots are always a good choice. If it’s not too cold out,
you can also get away with wearing flats or sandals.
Textured Fabrics
Say goodbye to summer and hello to cozy, textured fabrics! This is the perfect time of
year to bring out all of those sweaters and scarves that bring back the perfect fall memories.
We love the look of knitted fabrics, wool, and cashmere. These materials not only look great,
but they’ll also keep you warm between takes. When you’re picking out your clothing, make
sure to choose pieces that have some texture to them. This will add interest to your
photos and really make your outfits pop.
Plaids and florals
Plaids and florals are always a good idea, especially for a fall photoshoot. Whether
you’re going for a rustic vibe or something a little more whimsical, these two patterns
go great together. To keep things from looking too busy, stick to one or two colors in
each pattern. For example, a black and white plaid with red flowers would be perfect for
a Halloween-themed shoot. You could also go for a more autumnal look by pairing a
green plaid with orange or yellow flowers.
