My Rating for this Mascara: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Things that I am looking for in a Mascara:

  • Pigmented color: The color intensity of a Mascara that I use everyday is very important to me. I have dark brown eyes and hair and so I prefer a little dramatic color to match with that. Despite this Mascara being black in color after application (name of color called Supercharged Black), this color was not pigmented or dark enough for me.

  • Long Lasting: Some Mascara formulations do not last all day/night.

The product can dry out and fall on top of cheeks and/or under eyes, it may clump throughout the day, it can stain your eyelids if your lashes touch your lids, etc..

I have tested this mascara multiple times for up to 10 hour use with zero fallouts and no staining of the eyelids especially considering my oily eyelids! This is a super plus, guys! I do have to mention that I have not used this Mascara in any party settings or a night out dancing, I can’t attest to its longevity when sweating and moving around too much but for a typical day of running errands and easy slow days, this is perfect!

  • Great Lengthening and/or Volumizing effect: This Mascara definitely has the protentional to lengthen even more if I dedicate more time into the process of application, however, not so much on volumizing on my end.

  • A straight traditional brush or wand: The wand and the brush for this Mascara are perfect and exactly what I am looking for. The brush is straight and the bristles are short for easy and precise application!

  • Causes no sensitivity to my Eyes: I have applied this multiple times without any reactions or sensitivity to my eyes.

  • Easy to apply: This Mascara is very easy to apply because of its brush being simple. I tend to have a hard time applying the Mascaras that have odd shapes (curvy, ball, hourglass, comb). Some of them I stay away from because I fear that the brush may accidently hit my eyeballs.

  • Easy to remove: The removal of this Mascara seemed to be average along side of all of the other non-waterproof Mascaras that I have used. I don’t use wipes around my eyes because they can be harsh so instead I use a very mild face wash and go over my mascara for at least 30 seconds to make sure all the product comes off. First, I splash water onto my face a few times then I apply cleanser to my hands and form a cloud like foam and moving over to my lashes and going in circular motion very gently. About 30 seconds is enough to get this mascara off (about the average time it takes for me to remove other non-waterproof mascaras).

  • And as always, cruelty-free: Here is what Benefit mentions in their FAQs section regarding animal testing:

“Benefit does not test our products on animals.

Since 1989, the Perfumes & Cosmetics companies of LVMH group (including Benefit Cosmetics) have not performed any tests on animals for our products - this was implemented long before the 2013 official ban set by the European Union.

We are deeply committed to the elimination of animal testing. We’re playing a leading role in developing alternative methods through our support of the “Fund for Alternatives to Animal Testing” in the United States. We also actively participate in validation studies of new alternative tests in the framework of the European cosmetics association, Cosmetics Europe. We are one of only a few companies to have invested in creating our own internal department to test raw materials and ingredients to further ensure the quality of our products and the satisfaction of our customers, which is our top priority.

As a result, all Benefit products undergo very strict tolerance tests using non-animal methods during the development of each product to ensure quality and safety prior to market.

Some customers expressed concern regarding the situation in China. Our products are made in Europe and for imported cosmetics, the Chinese health authorities order some test on animals: they require companies to make their products available to be tested in state-certified laboratories for registration purposes only, as it is currently their only recognized method to demonstrate product safety.

We are hopeful that alternative testing methods will be adopted worldwide and we will see an end to animal testing.”

According to the packaging of this Mascara, it was made in France.
