Drunk Elephant F-Balm Electrolyte Waterfacial Masque Hydratant

Hi everyone!
Today I’m reviewing this mask from Drunk Elephant. It’s the first product that I have tried and purchased from the brand. The reason why I decided to try this is to repair my skin barrier function.
Here is the ingredient list found on drunkelephant.com 2022: Water/Aqua/Eau, Squalane, Propanediol, Niacinamide, Olive Oil Glycereth-8 Esters, Coconut Alkanes, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Water, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Glycerin, Mannitol, Sclerocarya Birrea Seed Oil, Sclerocarya Birrea Seed Butter, Sodium PCA, Opuntia Tuna Fruit Extract, Linum Usitatissimum (Linseed) Seed Oil, Sorbitol, Quercetin, Trehalose, Zea Mays (Corn) Oil, Cetyl Alcohol, Sucrose, Creatine, Inositol, Pentylene Glycol, Ferulic Acid, Hydroxytyrosol, Behenic Acid, Linoleic Acid, Cholesterol, Ceramide NS, Ceramide AP, Ceramide EOS, Ceramide NP, Ceramide EOP, Phospholipids, Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer, Magnesium PCA, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Adenosine, Sodium Hyaluronate, Xanthan Gum, Caprooyl Phytosphingosine, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, Caprooyl Sphingosine, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, Ceteareth-25, Citric Acid, Glyceryl Caprylate, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Sodium Benzoate, Tocopherol, Chlorphenesin, Potassium Sorbate, Ethylhexylglycerin
Judging by the ingredients, this looked like the perfect product that my skin needed at the time.
Right after I washed my face and applied a 2% BHA liquid exfoliant (which was very gentle and I had been using it every night for quite a while for my acne), I applied this mask in two layers by dabbing it on each time. Immediately after application, it caused a little bit of a burning sensation. It wasn’t an irritation, just burned a little likely because of my damaged skin barrier and certain ingredients that don’t play well with my skin. When I woke up, my skin still had some redness (same as usual) and the tightness and itchiness that that are associated with a damaged barrier. This mask doesn’t claim to do anything for redness which wasn’t was I concerned about, but I did question whether it was the right product for me because I still didn’t have a comfortable skin in the morning. One thing that I did notice was that it did give me a bit of glow and had a plumping effect.
These are Vitamin F beads that burst when you apply the product to the skin for emollience and hydration. I love ingredients in beads because it’s a way of protecting and preserving the effects of what’s in it either from internal or external elements.
The next day I skipped my BHA product and mixed the mask with a pump of the glycolic night serum that came with it (called T.L.C framboos Glycolic Night Serum for those that want to know). I did that for the next week and still had the same issues with burning sensation right after application and the redness and itchy skin in the morning. Not sure what’s in the product that’s doing that or maybe my skin isn’t agreeing with some of the ingredients. I continued using the mask for two weeks and eventually stopped using it because, aside from the visible effects, it didn’t feel good on my skin.
Maybe this is a great product for those that don’t have compromised skin barrier function that just want a product to plump their skin, hydrate, and add glow? I love the effort of the cruelty-free brand and all of the amazing ingredients in this product, but there is likely something in it that isn’t well tolerated by my skin.
In conclusion, there aren’t many people with damaged skin barriers and if you are one, you may give this a try and it might work wonderful for you.
I would definitely recommend this to those with dry and normal skin types. This product has so many amazing ingredients to keep the moisture in and give your skin a glow the next day. See if you are able to find a travel size or get a sample from a beauty store if you don’t want to commit to a full size.

This is a wonderful cleanser that removes makeup and excess oils and has a beautiful gentle consistency that won’t allow me to rub in too harshly which is great for people with sensitive skin!
