Let’s talk about the specifics of Rosehip seed oil because it’s important to know what type of oil is best for your skin type and needs. Rosehip seed oil is high in Vitamin C, Vitamin A, is an anti-oxidant, and prevents and protects again UV damage. It has a comedogenic rating of 1 which signifies a small chance that the oil will clog your pores if you’re prone and don’t exfoliate often. Natural oils can have a rating of up to 5 but usually most of them are on the low side. Rosehip seed oil has 14% of Oleic Acid (Omega 9 | Great for dry and normal skin), 44% of Linoleic Acid (Omega 6 | Great for oily congested skin), and 33% Alpha-Linoleic (Omega 3).
Now, When I first started using this for my acne, I stopped using my other acne products to see if this actually works. How I used this was I would wash my face with a very mild cleanser, then I would mix a few drop of this oil with a physical exfoliant twice a day. The reason why I did that is because I’ve always used some kind of exfoliation for my acne and I felt like I needed it while transitioning to using only an oil for my acne. My skin creates too much sebum and too many dead skin cells and if I don’t exfoliate I see a lot of flaking and texture.
My morning skincare routine: after exfoliating, I followed it with a few more drops of the oil then a mineral sunscreen.
Evening skincare routine: I exfoliated again with the oil then rinsed and used more oil (dabbing of course).
The reason why I stopped using this oil (It was literally the only thing that fixed my skin barrier function), is because it stopped working after 3 weeks. I’m not sure why it stopped working and this is the third Rosehip seed oil that I’ve purchased that had the same problem.
The only thing that I can think of would be that I didn’t refrigerate it after opening. It doesn’t say anywhere on the bottle or in the description on Amazon that it needs to be refrigerated after opening but some people that reviewed it claimed that it lasts longer if we do so.
Because this is a cold-pressed natural oil with no preservatives and nothing else in the ingredients, I would think that maybe it goes bad after a few weeks of opening? Not sure, I am however willing to try again and see if it resolves the issue. Give it a try and let me know how you think! It’s currently $13.46 on Amazon for 4OZ (which is a really good amount for the price).

This is a wonderful cleanser that removes makeup and excess oils and has a beautiful gentle consistency that won’t allow me to rub in too harshly which is great for people with sensitive skin!
